BELLAIRE, Ohio —

The remains of a missing 80-year-old woman were found Saturday in Belmont County, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Luella Edge went missing from the Country Club Retirement home in Bellaire early in the morning on April 30. At that time, search teams and K-9 units had no luck finding her and the search was called off.

Edge's family gathered a team of roughly 30 people to begin another search Saturday morning. Edge's remains were found in a remote part of a wooded area on the top of a hill less than a mile from the retirement home, according to Sheriff Fred Thompson.

Thompson said while it is highly likely that the remains belong to Edge, they will await results from the coroner to confirm. He added that the initial examination of the remains did not show any signs of trauma.

Steve Habursky, the man who organized Saturday's search, said a husband and wife were the first to find Edge.

"I think the wife found a bone. We started searching around there because it looked to be a human bone. We started looking around that area and then we found a skull. Then, we found clothing that matched Luella," Habursky said.

Edge's daughter, Christine Alexander, said she hopes no other families ever have to go through an ordeal like this.

"I'd like to have a nice burial for her, services for her. And I promised her I'd put her wedding rings on her. I have them and I have to do that. I promised her I would," said Alexander.
