COLUMBIANA COUNTY, Ohio --

A Southern Local High School teacher who coached football in the past has been cleared of accusations from a teenage girl.

Mike Skrinjar was cleared from facing any charges after a three-month investigation. Skrinjar had been placed on leave in November after the accusations.

Columbiana County assistant prosecutor Tim McNichol said the county prosecutor, child services, and in-house officials were involved in the investigation. All of the agencies came to the conclusion that Skrinjar was to be cleared from facing any charges.

McNichol said, after collecting statements and reviewing information, not enough evidence was found to file any charges.

With regard to the teen, McNichol said situations like this are serious, but he is not aware of any action that would be taken against the girl. He said he would never call accusations of such a difficult nature "unfounded."

On Wednesday, Skrinjar was back in the classroom and was listed on the high school's website as an intervention specialist. The site also says he teaches learning center English and study skills. An email message to him from NEWS9 had not been returned as of 4 p.m.

As for his status as coach of the football team, Southern Local Superintendent Lou Ramunno said decisions regarding the hiring of fall coaches aren't made until May.

Ramunno declined further comment, saying the incident is over and the district is moving forward now.
