Special election under way for Edison Local Schools' operating levy

By NEWS9

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio —

A special election was under way on Tuesday as the Edison Local School District tries to pass an operating levy.

School officials said if the levy doesn't pass, dramatic cuts will be made.

Those cuts would include busing, the closure of Pleasant Hill Elementary School and staffing.

Similar levies have been voted down by constituents in the district recently.

District officials said Tuesday's vote may be the last opportunity for the district to fix the budget before the state of Ohio comes in to take over the district.

Polling locations close at 7:30 p.m.
