HARRISON COUNTY, Ohio --

Representatives from the Jewett Sportsmen's Club and Chesapeake Energy are squaring off in Harrison County Court on Wednesday over natural gas drilling.

The atmosphere was tense and attorneys for the club opened by saying that Chesapeake doesn't have surface rights for land owned by the club because the previous agreement expired in 1980.

Attorneys for Chesapeake Energy disagreed with that and argued that there is an express reservation for surface rights that extends beyond 1980.

Court was still in session as of 11:45 a.m. and both sides said a ruling may be made sometime Wednesday afternoon.
