Steubenville Central Downs Toronto 27-6 In Game Of the Week Matchup

Steubenville Central improved to 5 and 1 with a 27-6 win over rival Toronto (3-3) on Saturday night in the WTOV9 High School Football Game Of The Week. Central grabbed control of the game in the early going by marching on a 7 minute scoring drive on the game's first possession to go up 6-0. Toronto tied the game at 6 on a second quarter touchdown pass from Zach Stewart to Josh Wilson that covered 52 yards. The Crusaders went to their two minute offense on a possession that started with :55 seconds remaining in the half and scored with 20 seconds on the clock when Brian DeFranco hit Chris Gale for a 33 yard touchdown and a 13-6 halftime lead. Toronto returned the second half kickoff into Central territory and threatened to tie the game but Chris Gale picked off a third down pass in the endzone. Central would take advantage of the turnover by scoring on a 19 yard touchdown pass from DeFranco to Gale, DeFranco finished the night 11 of 14 passing for 150 yards. The Crusaders would score their final points on a fourth quarter eight yard touchdown run by Justin Kaufman, who finished the game with 172 yards and two touchdowns.
