Steubenville Gets Grant To Keep Two Police Officers

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio —

A new grant awarded to Steubenville means the city can retain two positions on its police force.

The grant will provide the city with an estimated $433,790 over the next three years.

Officials said this means the police department will have to lay off two fewer officers than expected.

City officials previously discussed cutting as many as nine police officer jobs and about a dozen other city positions due to a budget deficit.
