STEUBENVILLE, Ohio —

Amari Pratt may only be 3 years old, but she’s Steubenville High School’s biggest fan.

The young girl is bedridden from a brain injury, so to encourage her on the road to recovery, the Steubenville Big Red Pep Band brought its school spirit straight to her home on Thursday.

Amari’s family said they’ve been looking forward to the moment they would see her favorite band on Sherman Avenue performing outside of their home.

Amari was born with a trachea malformation, and last Thanksgiving, her brain wasn’t getting the oxygen it needed, causing severe damage to her brain. At one point, her father said they were just seconds from losing her forever.

Troy Pratt said his daughter’s life was altered.

"Everyone helps out," Pratt said. "The neighborhood loves her. Everyone asks about her every day. She's like the neighborhood kid."

Her injury has been tough on everyone, but they’ve all come together as a family.

"Her (younger sister) and my son wake up every morning, and they go kiss her. They know what's going on, but they still want her to get better daily. They want to play with her. They always want to get in the bed and be with her," Pratt said. "Me and my wife pretty much take care of everything. We're hands-on. I'm her nurse. We can't get any nursing."

Amari is now able to move, which is something she couldn't do before.

“Every day she’s getting a little better. She’s getting better every day,” Pratt said.
