STEUBENVILLE, Ohio —

Steubenville, OH

Steubenville city leaders gathered on Tuesday night for the state of the city address.

Mayor Domenick Mucci gave his speech inside of Eastern Gateway Community College. About a dozen city leaders and residents came out for the event.

The data released during the speech came from information gathered in 2011 and addressed the growth seen in 2012, but the main focus was on the growing collaboration throughout the area.

"Our commitment to the reorganized visitors center and historic meetings held between community leaders and the county shows that collaboration leads to investment in our town," said Mucci.

The mayor also talked about growing investments throughout the city and highlighted some of the work done by the police and fire departments.

Steubenville city leaders will give the annual state of the city address Tuesday evening.

The address is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. at Eastern Gateway Community College. Mayor Domenick Mucci said the purpose of the address is to make city residents “fully aware of what is happening.”

The event is open to the public.

“Tonight we'll give an opportunity to our citizens to better understand their government as they're preparing themselves for the Nov. 6 election because we do have a renewal on the ballot. We want them to be totally informed as to exactly what's happening,” Mucci said.

The data to be released during the speech will come from information gathered in 2011 and address growth seen in 2012. Mucci attributed the growth to collaboration with community partners like Progress Alliance and the Brooke-Hancock-Jefferson Metropolitan Planning Commission.

“As we move through and change to the changing economy, we have to make those adjustments and have to understand the industry. We see some growth -- continuing growth -- within our education field, our health care services and now we're starting to experience the gas and oil industry,” Mucci said. “Tonight we're hoping to give an insight view of exactly the direction the city is headed to so that citizens again can be prepared.”
