STEUBENVILLE, Ohio —

U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson met with Steubenville city officials on Monday to discuss serious concerns the area has with regard to public housing.

City leaders are reaching out to Johnson, a Republican who represents Ohio's 6th district, to get advice on how to combat crime in housing complexes.

Johnson said he's willing to do what's needed.

"It's important that these federal agencies are supportive of communities like Steubenville that are working so hard to make changes to move forward. A lot of opportunities (are) coming and the city of Steubenville … needs support, not road blocks," Johnson said.

The congressman was also scheduled Monday to speak at the National Federation of Independent Business luncheon in Steubenville.
