Steubenville parade kicks off Christmas season

By NEWS9

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio —

Hundreds of residents took part in the Eastern Gateway Community College’s "Sights and Sounds of Christmas" Steubenville parade Saturday afternoon.

People lined Fourth Street to see the floats and bands, and WTOV9’s Kelly Camarote and Eric Minor hosted live coverage.

Meanwhile, the Grand Theater held its first open house to the public to showcase work to the lobby and main area, and organizers said there was a good turnout.

"We were going to have an open house anyway, and then we heard the parade was occurring on the 8th. So, we decided to go ahead and tie the two together because people would be downtown anyway," said Scott Dressel, who leads the theater renovation.

Volunteers spent more than two years cleaning out the area, and they said the original molding and marquis for outside are next on the to-do list.
