As of 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, the investigation was still very active so police had not released much information. However, Chief Bill McCafferty said there were no reported injuries.

The incident happened just before 1 p.m. along the 500 block of Union Avenue.

A witness told officers that three black males were seen running from the scene in between homes toward Lawson Avenue. The men were wearing black coats with hoods.

McCafferty said a silver rental van was also seen speeding away. Police later stopped the van at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and John Scott Highway. Officials said the driver's side window was shot out and the van was still being processed.

Police said they also collected three spend 9 millimeter shell casings at the scene. Another car was also towed away from the scene, but police did not say anything else about that vehicle.

This is the latest in a string of shootings in the city in recent weeks.
