Steubenville Sees Another Gas Leak

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio —

A gas leak occurred in Steubenville Friday morning, making it the second one in 24 hours.

The line was ruptured when a maintenance company was working on a water line on Maryland Avenue, officials said.

According to the Steubenville Fire Department, the leak did not put anyone in danger and no evacuations were ordered.

"All the homes in the area were checked to make sure there was no gas. The one home actually had to have the windows shut and the fan taken out because it was actually pulling the gas in, but everything else was deemed safe," Capt. Frank Deleonardis said.

The leak was contained while crews waited on Columbia Gas to fix the shut off valve.
