Steubenville Teen Leads Police On High-Speed Chase

A Steubenville teen is charged with numerous crimes after a high-speed chase that spanned both sides of the river.

Franklin Littlejohn III, 19, was arrested by Brooke County police on charges of fleeing police, possessing marijuana and possessing alcohol as a minor.

Deputies said the chase initially started in Ohio, when Wells Township police said they spotted Littlejohn driving 91 mph with no headlights on state Route 7 near the Cardinal Plant in Brilliant.

Police said they tried to stop him, but he sped away.

On a recording of a police scanner, officers are heard requesting backup from Steubenville and Weirton police.

“It looks like he’s going across the bridge. Get a hold of Weirton,” one officer said.

Once in Weirton, Littlejohn was stopped and arrested by Brooke County deputies.

Littlejohn was released from the Northern Regional Jail on Friday.
