Teachers Prepared To Issue Strike Notice

BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio —

Teachers in the Shadyside School District are expected to make a big statement as all signs point to a 10-day strike notice to be issued.

The planned walkout would take place Nov. 13.

The union was prompted to re-activate its plan to stage the walkout and issue the strike notice after talks broke down with the school board.

The school board said if the walkout happens, they will either hire substitute teachers or else close the schools - both options not sitting well with parents.

The decision to close the schools or bring in replacements is expected to be determined by officials next week.
