Teen Charged With Murder After Crash That Killed Belmont Co. Woman

Officials with the Akron Police Department said a teen has been charged with murder after he intentionally crashed his vehicle into a crowd, killing an Ohio Valley woman.

According to an incident report from the Akron Police Department, Jeffery Piorkowski, 17, of North Royalton, Ohio, was drunk when he crashed into a group of people, killing 21-year-old Amanda Rosepapa.

Five other people were injured in the Aug. 21 crash. The police report said Piorkowski did not know any of the victims.

Piorkowski is charged with murder, attempted murder, nine counts of felonious assault, kidnapping and operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs of abuse, said Lt. Rick Edwards, public information officer for Akron police.

Rosepapa, 21, of Bellaire, was a softball standout and graduate of St. John Central High School.

Officers responded to a fight at a large block party at the intersection of Allen Street and Irisdale Place shortly before 2 a.m. While 10 police officers were trying to disperse hundreds of people, an officer leaving the party saw a 2008 Honda Civic without its headlights on.

Police said Piorkowski had a 15-year-old passenger in his car when he struck a retaining wall, a cruiser and then Rosepapa. Rosepapa died Saturday night at Akron City Hospital.

Piorkowski is currently in custody at the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center. Stay with NEWS9, WTOV9.com and WTOV9 Mobile for continuing coverage.
