MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va -- —

Moundsville police have arrested John Gonchoff and Larry Eddy in connection with a burglary Tuesday.

According to Moundsville Police Chief Tom Mitchell, a call came in around 10 a.m., and when police got to the house on Ohio Street, a foot chase ensued.

"They stole power tools and some miscellaneous items. They had a pair of boots, a knife, and some pharmaceuticals, some pills," Mitchell said.

Three schools in the area were under a lockdown for precautionary measures, Mitchell said. However, the lockdown did not last long, since multiple neighbors were on their porches, letting police know in which direction the men were running, Mitchell said.

"We went into the area and saw them a block away and began pursuing them on foot, and as the officers rolled in, we ended up catching one right there, and one was caught up the street," Mitchell said.

According to Mitchell, the police department gets a lot of suspicious activity calls, and they thoroughly investigate them all. He said residents look out for each other, something residents who spoke to NEWS9 agreed with.

"I think this is a pretty tight-knit community. Like on our street, we have a lot of older people that live alone, and the people try to look out for them. And I think a lot of the older people that are home have time on their hands and they look out and see things and report it," said Moundsville resident Christine McDonald.

Gonchoff and Eddy are facing felony daytime burglary charges. If convicted, they could face up to 15 years behind bars. Mitchell said a third person may have been involved, but they are still investigating.
