Mine rescuers are communicating with two miners trapped under ground in Harrison County, Ohio.

According to Carlos Mosley, an assistant district director for the Mine Safety and Health Administration, rescuers can see and hear the trapped miners, but cannot reach them because it's unsafe for anyone to walk beneath a "voided area" where the roof fell in.

The roof fall happened at the Hopedale Mining Company at approximately 9:30 Wednesday morning, but word of the rescue did not reach the public until a shift change later in the day.

The Harrison County Sheriff's Office and the Hopedale Volunteer Fire Department told NEWS9 they were not notified.

Right now, they are working to get them food and they say it could take several more hours to get them out.
