Valley School's Multi-Million Dollar Renewal Levy Passes

Locals who made it out to vote Saturday overwhelmingly approved a multi-million dollar renewal levy for Ohio County Schools.

Workers told NEWS9 more than 80 percent of voters approved the renewal levy.

The levy gives the school $10 million per year for the next five years, and the money will go towards supplies, salaries and more.

More than $7 million will go towards staff salaries, and about $60 thousand will go towards transportation costs.

Workers said voter turn out was very low, with only about 16 percent of people making it out to vote Saturday.

Ohio County Elections Coordinator Toni Chieffalo attributed the low voter turn out to the nice weather.

Chieffalo said many teachers made sure to make it out and vote on the renewal levy.
