Van Into House

Imagine you're asleep in your home, when all of a sudden a van comes crashing into your home. That's exactly what happened to one Belmont County family. Early Saturday morning a local family awoke to find a van inside their home. The van actually went through the front of the house, busting through the family room. Dan Tatter and his wife and two kids were in the home at the time but were unharmed. Tatter says he was in the room just before the crash, "I just heard a big kaboom and then I felt all the debris coming in. It scared me, it scared the living daylights out of me." Police say 66-year-old George Adkins of Cleveland was driving the van at the time. Officers say he was driving drunk and he has been arrested for drunk driving before. Neighbors say this stretch of road is dangerous because of the sharp bend and blind spot. They have been to the state capitol asking for caution signs to be posted. The driver of the van was taken to a nearby hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries.
