Wanted Texas man arrested in Ohio

By Alex Koscevic

COLUMBIANA COUNTY, Ohio —

A man who was wanted on multiple charges in Texas is now behind bars in Columbiana County, Ohio.

Roy "Joe" Trejo was wanted on aggravated assault and attempted murder charges, and police said cellphone towers were used to track him down Wednesday morning.

The U.S. Marshal's Office, Columbiana County Sheriff's Office, and St. Clair Township Police surrounded a home on St. Clair Avenue, where police said they had learned Trejo was staying with a friend.

Trejo is behind held in the Columbiana County Jail in lieu of $4 million bond. Columbiana County Sheriff Raymond Stone said he was surprised someone facing such serious charges ended up more than 1,500 miles away from Texas.

"I think it was a family member he shot, or a friend of a family member, but we don't need those type of people anywhere, let alone our quiet area that we try to keep quiet up here," Stone said. "So I'm glad he's apprehended, and they're glad in Texas he's apprehended."

Trejo was in court Thursday morning, where Stone said it was decided that he will be taken back to Texas by the middle of September.
