Water restored in Wellsburg; boil order in effect

By NEWS9

WELLSBURG, W.Va. —

Water is restored to the city of Wellsburg and residents near Washington Pike after a valve ruptured on Sunday.

Service was restored around 4 a.m. Monday. Crews worked on repairs all day Sunday after the valve broke at the intersection of 12th and Charles streets.

Workers said the valve ruptured because of rusted bolts and an overwhelming amount of pressure.

Because of the valve break, all Wellsburg residents, including those who live along Washington Pike and White Bell Circle, are under a 48-hour water boil order.
