Weir High School volleyball game benefits scholarships in memory of students who passed away from cancer

By NEWS9

WEIRTON, W.Va. —

Students and faculty at Weir High School met on the volleyball court Friday for a good cause.

They competed in the Kristin Andrews and Aaron Davis Memorial Game, organized by the school's Hi-Y and Tri-Hi-Y clubs.

Both Kristin and Aaron battled cancer before passing away around the same time roughly 10 years ago.

"Reminding them every year of the type of students that they were and the type of people that they were helps our kids to want to be better people, and I think that's why we try to promote this event every year," said Stacey Ruiz, Weir High teacher.

All money raised through the memorial game will go to fund scholarships in honor of the two former students.
