Weirton to hold candlelight vigil for Conn. shooting victims

WEIRTON, W.VA. —

Weirton community leaders will hold a candlelight vigil this week to honor the 26 children and adults who died in the shooting rampage Friday in Connecticut.

City officials said Sunday residents are experiencing lots of grief over the tragedy. They encourage everyone to show their support Wednesday at the Weirton Millsop Community Center.

"Clergy speakers and hymnists, everybody's encouraged to attend, number one to honor those victims, those 26 tragic victims, 20 of them small kids, and to relieve any grief they may have other this," said councilman Fred Marsh, of the 3rd Ward.

Officials said clergy members will meet Monday night with the city officials to coordinate.
