Weirton Man Airlifted After Crash

A Weirton man had to be airlifted to a Pittsburgh hospital after a bad accident on Route 22 right near Route 7, Wednesday evening.

Ohio State Highway Patrol told NEWS9 the driver, Michele Provenzano, 18, was at the wheel with two juveniles in the car.

Troopers said Provenzano was going around the bend too fast and lost control.

The car slammed into the guard rail and the force of the impact shoved him clear into the back seat of the car.

Provenzano was rushed to Trinity Medical Center then airlifted to a Pittsburgh hospital. There's no word on his condition.

The two juveniles were transported, but only for minor injuries.
