Wellsburg Residents Ring In The New Year

WELLSBURG, West Virginia —

Wellsburg residents brought in the New Year at the Wellsburg Town Square as they have done for the past several years.

Music, food, fire works and the city's own New Year's ball drop was on the agenda for the celebration.

The event, highlighted by the ball drop and fireworks, was organized by members of the city council and several volunteers.

The ball, made by Brooke High School students, was five feet wide, weighed over 70 pounds and was made of Christmas lights.

Wellsburg Mayor Sue Simonetti said the celebration gives residents an opportunity to bring in the New Year with family, friends and neighbors.
