Wetzel Co. police confiscate thousands worth of heroin, marijuana, prescription pills

By Josh Eachus and  NEWS9

WETZEL COUNTY, W.Va. --

New Martinsville police confiscated thousands of dollars worth of drugs after an investigation that lasted about a week.

In all, heroin totaling a $10,000 street value was confiscated in addition to marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a box of pills that are commonly used to get people to stop using heroin.

Police Chief Tim Cecil said enough information came together on Monday allowing police to make their first arrest just after noon that same day.

Police arrested Bryan Shannon at 325 Main Street, Apt. 1, saying with the amount of drugs found there was clearly intent to sell. Cecil said police are still working with the prosecutor to determine what charges will be filed, but said there will be multiple charges.

The Paden City Police Department and Wetzel County Sheriff's Office assisted New Martinsville with servicing the search warrants.

Shannon remained in the West Virginia Northern Regional Jail as of 11:45 a.m. Tuesday.

The incident remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call police or the NEWS9 Lauttamus Security Crimebusters Tipline at 800-862-BUST.
