Wheeling, WV —

Those who attended Wheeling's City Council meeting Tuesday night got to be a part of something special.

It was the city's first official gathering of any kind inside the newly renovated council chambers. Greeting residents and other officials in the room on the first floor of the city-county building were cushioned chairs, new carpet, new television screens, and a whole new look.

"We attend most of the meetings and it's a great improvement over what we've done over the years, with the TVs and everything everybody can follow along and really get into it," said resident Bill O'Leary.

"The new chambers are really a very nice place for the city to meet with various commissions and the boards and city council," said Vice Mayor Gene Fahey.

The renovation project cost around $150,000 to complete and work on the new chamber lasted about 10 months.
