Wheeling man arrested after allegedly having firearm at bar

WHEELING, W.VA. —

A Wheeling man is in jail Saturday on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and public intoxication after leaving a local bar, police said. According to police, John Redmond, 30, left the American Legion bar at 15th and Jacob streets at 3:14 a.m., and he tried to stuff a handgun into his pants.  Redmond dropped the gun on the sidewalk then tried to pick it up, but police in a patrol car nearby drew their firearms and ordered Redmond to drop the weapon, police said. He was arrested without incident and booked into the Northern Regional Jail, police said. His bond is set at $7,100.
