OHIO COUNTY, W.Va. —

A Wheeling mother accused in the death of her infant son is set to appear back in court on Monday.

Robin Reed is scheduled to appear in Judge James Mazzone's courtroom at 1:30 p.m.

Ohio County Prosecutor Scott Smith said the hearing is a precursor to an October trial.

Reed's 1-year-old son died in January 2011. She has been in jail since August of that same year.

Since then, the case has taken numerous twists and turns. A motion was filed in the case to have her defense attorney, Don Tennant, dismissed from the case because of an alleged conflict of interest.

Reed passed a lie detector test given by Wheeling police in April 2011, only to be later indicted by a grand jury. She claimed that during the test, Wheeling police offered to drop felony charges if she passed.

Tennant claimed the motions for his dismissal came after he asked that Smith testify about Reed's conversation with Wheeling police. Smith was ordered to testify, but no evidence was found about the alleged deal between Reed and Wheeling police.

After a few court dates being pushed back and a request to dismiss the case being denied by Mazzone, those involved are expected to find out today if Reed's October trial will indeed go on.
