WHEELING, W.Va. —
Police reports indicate that a man entered the The Medicine Shoppe in Fulton. The owner of the shop, Doug Carpenter, said the man came in and went behind the counter and demanded narcotics.
Police now have Joshua David Kenny in custody. He is considered a suspect in the robbery.
The store owner told NEWS9 that he punched the man in the face during the incident. The owner then, according to police, chased the man. Police said the man was wearing a ski mask, but it was knocked off in a scuffle.
"We started scuffling, and my daughter jumped in, and he ended up squirming away, and he ran out of the store," said Carpenter.
When police arrived, they said they searched for the man in the area and found him near Big Wheeling Creek. NEWS9 arrived on the scene and saw about 10 officers searching the area after the incident.
"I think a combined effort between the K9 teams and the officers on foot flushed the individual out of hiding. He was actually hiding in some very thick brush along the river bank,” said Chief Robert Matheny.
The lead detective on the case told NEWS9 that Kenny confessed after he was arrested. Stay with NEWS9, WTOV9.com and WTOV9 Mobile for continuing coverage.
