WHEELING, W.Va. —

Engineers will begin inspections to ensure that renovations made to the Wheeling Tunnel are holding up.

The West Virginia Division of Highways will inspect the eastbound side of the tunnel Monday and Tuesday from 10 p.m. to 8 p.m. The eastbound lanes will be closed during those times.

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, inspectors will check the westbound side of the tunnel from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. Those lanes will also be closed to traffic during the inspection.

Drivers are advised to use Interstate 470.

The purpose of the inspections is to make sure renovations made a few years ago during a $14 million project are holding up.
