WHEELING, W.Va. —

Wildlife experts are looking into why numerous dead fish have been found in the Ohio River in Wheeling.

Many dead fish have been found near the Wheeling Island Marina on the back channel of the river. A NEWS9 crew said there were at least 25 dead fish floating just near the entrance of the marina on Thursday morning.

The Ohio County Extension Office said, as of noon, they didn't believe there is any need for concern. Officials there said because of the heat, humidity and lack of rain, the river is low in that area, which is most likely contributing. More so, a lack of oxygen in the water could be causing the fish kill.
