Severe Weather Team 9 said precipitation is expected to start Tuesday afternoon as a mix of rain and snow, briefly change over to rain, and then become all snow by midnight.

With Tuesday’ daytime temperatures in the upper 30s, road surfaces should not be very hazardous during the day. However, once the weather transitions over to all snow after dark, snow will begin to accumulate quickly.

As of Tuesday morning, Severe Weather Team 9 is predicting a heavy, wet 3-6 inches of snow. Some northern locations could see as little as 2" and some central and ridge locations may pick up an isolated 7 or 8 inches.

Snow will quickly push east and away from the WTOV9 viewing area on Wednesday morning with lingering flurries and snow showers the rest of the day Wednesday. By Friday, temperatures are expected to climb toward 50 degrees for the weekend with a good deal of sunshine.
