Winter Weather Makes Roads Treacherous

Traveler's Advisory In Ohio Valley

Roads throughout the Ohio Valley, but particularly in the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia and in Belmont County, are treacherous on Sunday night, after an evening's rain froze and made most of the roadways into black ice. Numerous crashes are reported from all over... a four-car pileup on I-70 near Wheeling injured no one, but a one-car rollover nearby sent the driver to Wheeling Hospital. Plus, a tractor-trailer overturned on I-470 in Wheeling, and I-70 through the Barnesville, Ohio area was closed for a time because of the ice. In Weirton, a tractor-trailer jacknifed on US Route 22, causing a car to flip over. Stay tuned to NEWS 9 for the latest on the conditions out there. In the meantime, if you're planning to head out on the roads, call for road conditions before you take to the streets. In Ohio, it's (888) 264-7623; in West Virginia, (877) 982-7623; and in Pennsylvania, call (888) 783-6783.
