By Kelly Camarote and  NEWS9

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio —

A Harrison County woman is facing charges after an investigation into abuse allegations at a Jefferson County school for the disabled, police said.

Debra Copeland, 59, is charged in court documents with three counts of child endangerment stemming from alleged incidents at the School of Bright Promise.

Court documents show the counts are related to two allegations on Jan. 9 and one allegation on Jan. 11.

NEWS9 learned Wednesday that authorities recovered video documenting the incidents. Police said they would not release evidence until the investigation was completed.

Steubenville Police Chief Bill McCafferty said investigators were still conducting interviews with students and other potential witnesses from the school.

"From what I understand, (Debra Copeland) was very well respected, or is very well respected," said McCafferty. "A lot of people just can't believe it."

Copeland is free on $25,000 bond and is expected to be back in court on Feb. 5.
