By NEWS9

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio —

A woman remained in critical condition on Monday after she was struck by a car in Jefferson County on Sunday.

Officials said the woman was crossing the road just feet away from the Ohio State Highway Patrol barracks when she was struck.

The driver, James Truax, of Wintersville, was headed east on County Road 22A and Malone Drive in a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta when he struck the woman. Truax told troopers he didn't see her crossing the road.

Troopers said the woman was airlifted by medical helicopter to University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where she is recovering from severe head trauma.

The state patrol is investigating and no charges had been filed as of Monday.
