W.Va. DEP orders Chesapeake to continue repairing slip at well site

By NEWS9

MARSHALL COUNTY, W.Va. —

Chesapeake Energy Corp. has an order from the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection that allows the company to continue remediation work for a slip at a well site.

The work will take place at the Ray Baker site in southern Marshall County, near Glen Easton, where two slips have been reported.

Officials said the slips do not pose a threat to people or the environment.

The order comes after Chesapeake was sentenced Monday in federal court for Clean Water Act violations.

Chesapeake spokeswoman JacqueBland said the company has kept state officials fully informed of its approach and progress at the Ray Baker site and it remains committed to continuous improvement in all of its processes.
