WWDD For Aug. 29th Weekend

Lots of end of the summer festivals to choose from:

At Chevrolet Amphitheater at Station Square it's the 16th Annual Summer Italian Festival;

Ft. Henry Days happen at Oglebay Saturday and Sunday;

Downtown Toronto offers the 26th Annual Festival of Arts Saturday and Sunday;

and Shadyside celebrates its day on Saturday.

"Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers" was released on video/dvd this past Tuesday. You might want to have a Lord of the Rings marathon and watch the first one and the sequel. The final film in the trilogy will hit theaters later this year.

Only new box office opening is "Jeepers Creepers 2." When a bus carrying high school basketball players, coaches and cheerleaders breaks down, they discover they're in Creeper country.

I saw "Freaky Friday" this week and it was nothing but fun so you might want to check that out. If you're looking for a western there's Kevin Costner's "Open Range." Although I found it a bit long, it is a good movie. In Pittsburgh there are some other films that have been critically praised just getting to our area: "Camp," "The Secret Lives of Dentists," "Dirty Pretty Things," and "The Magdalene Sisters."

Musically...

Alabama's American Farewell Tour is at Pittsburgh Post Gazette Pavilion at Star Lake tomorrow.

The popular Christian band, Switchfoot, will hold a concert at Franciscan University at 9:00 Saturday and it's only $10.00/ticket. They are excellent.

And Sunday there's a free concert under the stars at Oglebay with the Wheeling Symphony and new director Andre Raphel Smith at 7:30.

Of course there's high school football and the Steelers play the Carolina Panthers in their last exhibition game Friday.

PLEASE have a safe and wonderful Labor Day Weekend - enjoy your time off with family and friends.
