YORKVILLE, Ohio —

A Yorkville man currently serving in the U.S. Navy was fatally shot in Virginia over the weekend.

Police say 22-year-old Kristopher Klubert was killed in Norfolk on Saturday. Wavy 10 News in Norfolk reported that Klubert 's uncle, Anthony Domenick, described him as a hardworking, happy go-lucky guy who was proud to be serving in the Navy.

"He always had a smile, a bright cheerful disposition, and he was always willing help," Domenick said. "He was totally on the up and up in his life."

Norfolk police arrested and charged 22-year-old Austin Greening with murder after a shooting at Pinewood Garden Apartments. Police have not released any details about what led to Klubert's shooting.

Domenick said Klubert's death is even harder to comprehend for his family because Greening was Klubert's close friend. Domenick said Greening had even met Klubert's family at one point.

Wavy 10 News reported that Greening, who lives at the same address where the shooting took place, was arrested and charged with murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony, according to a press release from Norfolk police.

Domenick said Klubert was a Gunner's mate and was stationed at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story.

Klubert was scheduled to ship out for military transport Sunday.
