Monteroso Chooses Purdue Football Program

By Rob Metzger

St. Clairsville senior Dan Monteroso has made a new college choice, giving a verbal commitment to new Purdue coach Darell Hazell and his staff.

The 6-foot-3 wide receiver/defensive back orginally had verballed to Boston College, but with a new staff in place there, he re-opened his recruitment again, and ultimately decided between Purdue and Maryland.

Also on the new Purdue staff is wide receiver coach Kevin Sherman, who was familiar with Monteroso in the recruiting process at Virginia Tech.

Monteroso is coming off a senior season in which he earned the Belmont Savings Bank WTOV9 Big 22 Player of the Year award for his role in helping St. Clairsville reach the Ohio Division IV state title game this past fall.

He's currently in the midst of basketball season, standing just 15 points from the 2,000 career point milestone.
