St. Clairsville senior Dan Monteroso hit a special milestone Sunday, becoming the 45th boys player in Ohio High School Athletic Association History to reach 2,000 career points.

Monteroso joined the club with a 24 point performance in the Red Devils' 75-56 loss to Cleveland St. Ignatius at the Dunk4Diabetes Shootout at Walsh University.   He needed 15 to reach the mark.

Monteroso hit a pair of free throws in the second half to hit, and surpass 2,000. He now has 2,009 career points.

He's the first OVAC player, girls or boys, to reach the 2,000 mark since Steubenville's Liz Repella did so in 2007.

Monteroso currently has 2,009  career points with nine  more regular season games remaining. The Red Devils could play up to seven more games in the postseason, should they reach the Ohio state championship game. If Monteroso held steady to his current 27 points per game average over 17 more games, he would have a shot  at finishing ahead of Hornyak and challenging Huggins for 11th on Ohio's all-time list.
