Oak Glen Alum Whittington Hired To Lead Football Program

Oak Glen has hired Ian Whittington to take over as the school's head football coach.  Whittington is no stranger to Golden Bear athletics, as he is a 2003 Oak Glen graduate. He was a three-sport standout, excelling in track, football and wrestling. He was a state wrestling champion in the 140 pound class his senior season.

Following high school, Whittington went on to play defensive back at West Liberty, where he led the Hilltoppers in tackles in 2005 and 2006, and was a team captain in the '06 campaign.

Most recently, Whittington served as a defensive assistant from 2009-2011 on Tony Filberto's staff. Filberto recently left to take the head coaching job at Weir High.

Whittington will lead the Golden Bears into a new era this season, as construction continues on a new multi-sport complex at the high school.

Oak Glen's home opener is in week two against Wellsville.
