Wheeling Park's Sean Doyle Steps Down To Start Wrestling Program at Wheeling Jesuit

By Rob Metzger

Sean Doyle has stepped down as head coach of the Wheeling Park wrestling team to accept the head coaching job at Wheeling Jesuit University, a program that will begin competition next school year in 2013-2014.

Doyle led the Patriots program for five seasons, guiding it two OVAC Class 4A titles, as well as the overall championship in 2008. He's coached seven individual state champions.

Doyle tells NEWS9 that the timing of the resignation is tough, with high school wrestling season right around the corner. However, he says coaching in college has always been one of his goals, and starting the program at WJU will give him that opportunity.

A search for Doyle's successor is underway. The wrestling job at Wheeling Park has been posted.
