Incumbent Democratic Steubenville Mayor Domenick Mucci won his bid for reelection Tuesday.Mucci was up against Republican challenger Lou Arrico. At age 25, Arrico was the city's youngest candidate for mayor in recent years.Mucci received 64 percent of the votes, while Arrico came out with 36 percent. The mayor's upcoming term poses some big challenges. The city is in the midst of serious budget issues and Mucci has previously asked the police and fire departments to look at ways to cut costs and said he is excited to try some other ideas."In 2010 we have three contracts up for renewal -- AFSCME (the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees), the FOP (Fraternal Order of Police) and the firefighters. We need to build consensus within those three unions and bargaining units and make them understand our budget concerns," Mucci said.Mucci said he also wants to work on economic development opportunities. His new term begins Jan. 1.
