Ohio Valley

The area is receiving some bonus snow out ahead of the main storm this evening, with accumulations up to an inch or two possible by morning, especially to the north and east. The center of the actual storm is expected to move into southern Illinois Saturday morning and then move through central West Virginia Saturday evening. If this is indeed the path the storm follows, we can expect heavier snow to develop Saturday morning, mixing with sleet and freezing rain in the central parts of the area (Wheeling and St. Clairsville), and turn to mainly rain far south (Moundsville and New Martinsville). This would result in snow totals of 5 inches to 8 inches for Steubenville to New Philadelphia and points north, 2 to 5 inches for areas south of Steubenville through Wheeling and St. Clairsville to Moundsville, and 2 inches or less from Moundsville south. The precipitation winds down Saturday evening, and Sunday should turn out cold with just a few flurries.
