Chambers' Four Golds Leads Area At West Virginia State Track

Updated: Sunday, May 25 2014, 12:27 AM EDT

Seven years after former Oak Glen standout runner Jordann Mitchell collected four gold medals at the West Virginia State Track and Field Meet, current Golden Bears standout Kelsey Chambers has brought home four golds.

Mitchell had brought home titles from the 100, 200, 400 and 4 x 4 relay back to Oak Glen in 2007 before running at West Virginia University.

This year, Chambers won the Class AA 800 (2.22.22) and the 1600 (5:19.29) on Saturday afternoon to complete the feat. Friday, Chambers won the 3200 meter run (11.41.83) and anchored the 4 x 8 relay to victory.  That relay team also included Christina Mangano, Alex Arnott and Felicity Nolder.  Oak Glen finished second in the Class AA team standings.

Madonna and Magnolia each won a pair of state titles as well Saturday in Charleston.

Magnolia sophomore Jared Kacor claimed the Class A 300 hurdles title in 41.62.

Blue Eagles senior Lauren Cline won the 800 meter run in 2:29.37.

Madonna's 4 x 4 relay defended its title in the Class A girls meet. Gianna Anile, Cameron Dowiak, Chloe Conner and Emille Pollard won with a state meet record time of 4:15.49.

Meanwhile, Madonna senior Marcello Biondillo took the top spot in the Class A long jump with a leap of 20-7.50.
