Former John Marshall Star Playing Softball At Marshall

Updated: Tuesday, September 2 2014, 01:20 AM EDT

Kylie Howard, a 2013 John Marshall graduate, has joined the softball team at Marshall University.

Howard is a former Gatorade West Virginia state player of the year but did not play any sports this past school year while attending West Virginia University.

Howard won that player of the year honor following her junior season in which the Monarchs brought home the West Virginia Class AAA state championship. She hit .475 that season with five homers, 15 doubles, eight triples and 55 RBI.

She wrapped up her high school career in 2013, hitting .400 with ten doubles, eight triples and 36 RBI, while anchoring the Monarchs defense at shortstop.

Howard ended up a first team all-state infielder all four years of high school.

Marshall, her new college home,  has been a contender in Conference USA the past few seasons. They were conference runner up in 2014, one season after winning the title and advancing to the NCAA tournament.
