Nogay's Blast Helps WVU Past Ohio State

Updated: Tuesday, April 15 2014, 10:14 PM EDT

Former Madonna star Max Nogay hit a two-run homer in the second inning Tuesday night, helping lead West Virginia past Ohio State 4-1 at Hawley Field in Morgantown.

Nogay's slam over the left field fence erased an early 1-0 WVU deficit.  Nogay is now hitting .246 with three homers and 8 RBI in 26 games this season.

Sophomore pitcher Ross Vance would not relinquish the lead Nogay gave the Mountaineers against the Buckeyes. He struck out 14 batters in a complete game effort.

The victory snapped WVU's seven game losing streak. They now stand at 17-15 heading into a weekend road series at Oklahoma.
