Ohio Boys, West Virginia Girls Win OVAC All-Star Basketball Games Sunday

The Ohio boys and West Virginia girls each claimed bragging rights in Sunday's Samuel Mumley OVAC All-Star Basketball Classic at Ohio University-Eastern.

The West Virginia girls opened things up with a 71-63 victory in the first game.

Ohio closed to as close as eight points late after West Virginia's lead in the second half ballooned near 30 multiple times.

Weir High's Alyssa Shingle and University's Mariah Callen each scored 11 points to lead the Mountaineers. Oak Glen's Vanessa Hissam also reached double figures with 10 points.

The Ohio boys closed the night with a 102-88 victory.

Ohio hit 17 three pointers in the victory.  Buckeye Local senior Brennan Czuchran led Ohio with 16 points.  Wellsville's Nate Scott scored 15, all via the three pointer.

Linsly's Anthony Wallace hit 4 threes en route to a team-high 15 points.

Wheeling Central's David Park won the boys' three point contest, while Union Local's Cori Medley won the girls' three point shootout.
