Updated: Saturday, February 22 2014, 12:47 AM EST

The West Virginia baseball team opened its series at San Diego State with a 6-2 win on Friday night.

Madonna grad Max Nogay doubled in the seventh inning and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly to extend WVU's lead to 4-2. He was the Mountaineers' designated hitter.

Magnolia alum Justin Fox singled to lead off the ninth. He'd eventually come around to score, part of a two run ninth.

Wheeling Park graduate Corey Walter pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning, inducing three ground balls, two of those to Fox at third base.

Harrison Musgrave picked up his first win of the season on the mound.

The Mountaineers improve to 2-2 on the young season and will again play the Aztecs Saturday at 9 p.m.
